This series was later on adapted and fused within another audio-visual form, closer to an animation film thanks to the work of Jan Luis Gottwald. It is the result of a collaboration between Paul Behnam and the painter Alexandre Tanqueray who then created a series of graphic works based on the sound composition. It was born from the electro-acousmatic piece composed by Paul Behnam, with a similar name, translated in French : “La Machine Arc-en-ciel”. Italian pianist and lyricist Andrea Monticciolo delivers a moving performance on « Oma Ooh Salem », while Louis McGuire and pandeiro player Adriano Tikogo invites us to a gloomy dance on Pandeiro Show.Īfter HUBRIS, MONOM is pleased to present ''The Rainbow Machine", an immersive installation with both sound & moving images. The soundtrack also features a collaboration with electronic music mad dog San Proper (Perlon, Rush Hour), playing his own role in the film and singing on « Dr. Even without the images, the story of Alice unfolds inside your ears throughout an hour of eerie, exhilarating and relaxing pieces of music. Throughout the 22 tracks of the album, he navigates effortlessly between ambient, modern classical, rock, funk, house and techno, unveiling his versatility and his talent for translating emotions into music. The sound design and original score of the film is written and performed by Paul Behnam. The film is structured as a sophrology session during which the audience enters different layers of body memory of Alice, going back and forth between the present and the nightmarish visions of her past trauma. Shot during 4 years between Berlin and the Fontainebleau Forest near Paris, the film is about the healing process of a young woman - Alice - who experienced a traumatic experience she does not have any visual memory of. It is a cinematic introspection with a strong ritualistic dimension. Visitors will embark on a deep inner sensorial journey and a collective catharsis through visual, sound, smell, touch & taste. At the crossing between art, performance, music and cinema HUBRIS will be screened in MONOM Studio spatialized by Shehryar Ahmad accompanying the acousmatic music performance by Marie Polo & Paul Behnam featuring actors of the movie.
